About Us

Apex Estimating was established by John Smyth in 2022. He has worked in the construction industry for more than twenty years. He started his journey as an apprentice electrician and was progressed into an estimating role shortly after qualifying as an Electrician. While honing his skills as an Electrical Estimator, John obtained qualifications in Building Service Design Engineering and M&E Quantity Surveying. He has worked as an Estimating Manager and a Cost Manager in his previous roles. Having worked in both pre-contract and post-contract roles he has extensive experience and knowledge to aid his colleagues and clients.

Our Estimating Team has a broad range of exposure within the construction industry. We have vast experience within Commercial, Industrial, Educational, Residential, Hospitality and Leisure construction sectors. We have completed electrical estimates for projects ranging anywhere from £100k to £5M.

Our Objective

Our objective to provide professional, efficient and detail orientated Electrical Estimates to the Construction Industry. Customer satisfaction is key. Our goal is to build long lasting business relationships with our clients, which are mutually beneficial.

For those with limited experience and time, Electrical Estimating can be a tedious, onerous, and stressful task. Too often time-stricken company owners are pressurised into compiling inaccurate estimates which ultimately lead to unprofitable projects.

When you choose to use an Electrical Estimating company, you are choosing to give your company the best opportunity to win profitable tenders. You are choosing to give experienced electrical estimators, who have the time and know how, the opportunity to win work for your company. In addition to this benefit, it results in freeing up much needed time for you, to focus on other areas of your business.

If you can relate to any of the following, Apex Estimating can help:

Are you a company owner who knows you’re ready to take the next step into larger scaled projects, but you don’t feel you have the time or skill set to compile the costs in an estimate?

Are you a company owner, with your company experiencing considerable growth? Are you spending too much time, after hours, trawling through drawings and specifications trying to compile costs for tenders?

Are you a company owner that doesn’t quite need a full-time electrical estimator at present, but needs the skill set on an ad hoc basis?

Are you a Company whose Estimating Department needs assistance during either a hectic period or during scheduled holidays?

Does your Company require take-offs completed from the Construction Drawings?

How It Works

A busy office
1

You send us the enquiry. For reference, early submission of documents is beneficial for clients as we work on a ‘first come first served’ basis. We do not duplicate the same estimate for multiple clients.

2

We do an initial review of the documents and assess if we have the time to complete the estimate within the time frame stated. We will respond accordingly.

3

If we commit to estimate, we will issue you with a quotation which will outline the cost for producing the estimate and service we will provide.

4

If you are agreeable to our proposal, we will commence the estimate immediately.

5

We will ask you to complete and submit a preferential suppliers document. Alternatively, at your request, we can use our tried and tested supply chain. In addition to this there is a short company registration document to complete.

6

On completion of the estimate all the estimate documents will be uploaded into our client portal on the website. The documents become available to download once payment has been made through our payment processing platform.

7

To close out the service we complete a two-hour tender review via Microsoft Teams.

8

After the tender review we make any final adjustments to the estimate detail and complete the tender return document, complete with qualifications as required.
